One thing I'll throw out there: I'm playing a melee paladin myself right now, my biggest contribution to the party is to take hits since LoH (and in your case Renewed Defense) allows for combat healing. Power Attack at level 17? Sure it scales and is in general a sweet feat, but something about seeing this at level 17 is throwing red-flags off in my head.Unexpected Strike might be worth taking earlier to get AoOs on characters 5-foot stepping that you normally wouldn't get, maybe?.Renewed Defense is awesome as more combat healing, but you're stuck choosing between it or LoH since they're both Swift Actions, no?. If not, this mostly seems fun and easily doable. Is the goal to optimize for level 20 or be playable at every level? I only ask because Mighty Resilience might be redundant with Stone Body if you were planning on optimizing for level 20. You've got your build planned out to level 20. I'm no build god, but I enjoy the discussions. It has already paid for itself imo.)ĥ - Dorn-Dergar Master (Allowing me to use a shield)ħ - Improved Shield Bash (Now I can use my shield as a weapon)ĩ - Shield Slam (Ability to push opponents to my Dorn-Dergar's range)ġ1 - Shield Master (Practically required if I am to use a shield efficently as a weapon)ġ3 - Lunge (More range while standing still is almost a must I feel for a class with defensive stance)Īlso as a new player how do you handle skills just constantly pump them into two or three things or get to a point and spread them around? As I have stated I am planning on getting the most out of defense and offense therefore biggest heaviest armor I can get (and with defensive stance I shouldn't be moving anyways.) Also My DM and I have worked together so that my Dorn-Dergar will be able to be used throughout the campaign (being it is a major part of my characters story.)Ĩ - CON - to 18 (for the extra hp/level and rounds to defensive stance)ġ2 - DEX - to 16 (for the extra AoO with combat reflexes)Ħ - Fatigued (to counteract Defensive's Stance fatigue)Ĩ - Renewed Defense (Extra self heal while being the only melee character)Ģ0 - Unexpected Strike (Not sure if we will get to 20 but an extra AoO on demand I feel would be beneficial (though admittedly I have never been above level 10 so am not sure))ġ - Combat Reflexes (More attacks = good. Also keep in mind we are level 3 so any changes to character building from level one are out of the question. I am including my projected choices below if there are any changes or modifications to the build or any improvements please let me know what you feel. Currently we are level 3 and are almost to the point where character choices come heavily into play and me being new to pathfinder I am looking for help on how to build this character. My paladin is pretty much the only melee character therefore I am trying to get the most out of defense and offence for this character. I am currently playing a game of pathfinder with some of my friends and I am playing a Stonelord paladin. /r/3d6 - For character creation, advice and sharing (system agnostic)./r/Battlemaps - For your VTT battlemap requirements./r/Tabletop - For your general tabletop gaming shenanigans.
